FLASH CARDS La
Paz 24.09N 110.20WDuring an intense Norther on Sunday evening, November 28, 2005, the 30' Newport sloop, Sea Ya, with Axel Heller and Tom Church aboard, ran hard aground attempting to enter La Paz. The boat eventually ended up on the rocks in front of the drainage tunnel near El Moro. Sea Ya was holed on the rocks, and lost her rudder and keel in the pounding. Heller and Church were able to wade ashore early Monday morning and returned with numerous cruisers to help salvage their boat. After stripping everything off, the cabin top was cut off and the hull was dragged through the drainage tunnel to a location where it could be loaded aboard a truck for transport to a landfill.
